CO-OPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT

Acting in accordance with his long terms goals and vision, Dr. Awasthi devoted much of his energies to the growth of Cooperative movement after assuming the role of Managing Director of IFFCO. Under his leadership the membership grew to about 55 million! These members are in turn affiliated to nearly 40,000 member cooperatives societies, an impressive figure by any measure for any conglomerate, especially a cooperative anywhere in the world.

IFFCO today is a perfect case study to showcase how the principles of participation, if practiced with uprightness and with true spirit of selflessness can be a formidable business model. His vision to make IFFCO function as a modern corporate within the framework of cooperative has inspired him to replicate this model and build a plethora of such islands of excellence. The idea of creating the IFFCO Foundation is a case in point.
